This moment was a BIG surprise in the making, and it all started when I received two inquiries for the same event. Without even knowing it, Kayla was going to have the MOST special North Captiva Island surprise proposal! I was so honored to be able to capture this sweet, intimate moment for the two of them, and I cannot wait to see their wedding day unfold.

Funny enough, both Tyler’s mom and sister-in-law inquired about this North Captiva Island surprise proposal. I eventually figured out it was for the same couple, thankfully! It wasn't until a few days before their vacation ended that he decided this was where he wanted to propose! So the two of them set out to find a last-minute photographer, and I was LUCKY enough to be the chosen one.

North Captiva is a true, hidden, gem. This island is a no-car island, meaning there are no cars, only golf carts or walking to get around. Say goodbye to traffic and hello to a relaxing, intimate, and slow-paced experience. How fun is that?! The only way to get to North Captiva Island is by ferry, private charter, or plane, so you are guaranteed a tucked-away, one-of-a-kind experience. Lucky for me, I used to work on North Captiva, so I've made connections with the homeowners. With three days to go, I found the perfect house for their private proposal. I quickly came up with their proposal, including the white roses, and incorporated her favorite color, turquoise. The small turquoise-colored gems and rocks were a personal touch that meant so much. We anxiously awaited the BIG moment.

Kayla was overcome with emotions and was so surprised. She said YES! And the two celebrated together!💍

Kayla writes, “I met Tyler through his family. I worked with his whole family for a year before I actually met Tyler. My former boss, RJ, and Tyler’s mom had a feeling we would end up together even before we ever spoke to each other. He came back into town after graduating from college and reached out to me, looking for new friends in the area. So we went to grab a drink and completely hit it off. We have been together ever since.”

When asked about the proposal, she mentioned, “I was completely surprised. I thought we were going to dinner with some close friends until we walked onto the beach and I saw the sweet set up with the beautiful roses. That is when I started to tear up realizing what was happening. I have never been more giddy in my life!”

And, of course, once you get married comes…WEDDING PLANNING!🍾

Kayla describes her perfect wedding day, “I have always imagined my wedding to be on a beautiful fall day with an outdoor service and a reception in an elegant glass greenhouse with beautiful flowers and greenery everywhere. Most importantly being surrounded by the most amazing family and friends.”

It is such an honor to be able to be a small part of these BIG life moments for all of my incredible couples! Being a Southwest Florida wedding photographer is a DREAM come true, and I cannot wait to watch your wedding dreams become a REALITY!
